Applications are invited for Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana KVPY 2021 Fellowship for Science Students. The final date of application is 25 August 2021.

About KVPY 2021 Fellowship

The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is an ongoing National Program of Fellowship in Basic Sciences, initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to attract exceptionally extremely motivated students for pursuing basic science programs and research careers in science.

The goal of the program is to determine students with expertise and aptitude for research; assist them to understand their educational potential; encourage them to take up research careers in Science, and make sure the growth of the best scientific minds for research and improvement within the nation.

Eligibility

The KVPY Fellowships are given to Indian Nationals to Study in India (Students desiring to pursue/pursing under graduate program below Distance Education scheme/correspondence course of any university aren’t eligible to apply).

Stream SA: Due to the prevailing COVID-19 scenario, as a one-time measure, students who’ve handed  X Standard Board Examination and are eligible to enroll in XI standard (Science subjects) through the educational year 2021-22, are eligible to appear for the Aptitude test. The student should produce a research certificate of class XI class as soon as they’re chosen as a provisional KVPY fellow.

moreover, the fellowship of the scholars chosen underneath this stream can be activated provided that they are a part of an undergraduate course in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S.) within the educational year 2023-24 after having secured a minimum of  60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in the aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE topics within the XII standard Board Examination. During the interim interval of 1 year, they are going to be invited to the National  Science (Vijyoshi) Camp and their journey expenses and local hospitality can be met by KVPY.

Stream SX: Students enrolled in XII Standard (Science subjects) through the educational year 2021–22 and aspiring to join undergraduate program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S) through the educational year 2022-23.

The fellowship of the scholars chosen underneath this stream can be activated only if they be a part of an undergraduate course in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S.) within the educational year 2022-23 after having secured a minimum of  60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in the aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) within the XII standard Board Examination.

Students of their 2nd year of research in Cambridge International Examination Board and aspiring to affix undergraduate program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S) through the educational year 2022-23.

The fellowship of the scholars chosen underneath this stream can be activated provided that they are a part of an undergraduate course in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S.) within the educational year 2022-23 after having secured a minimum of  60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) within the 2nd year of research in Cambridge International Examination Board Examination.

Stream SB: Due to the prevailing COVID-19 scenario, as a one-time measure, students who’ve passed  XII Standard Board Examination and are eligible to enroll within the 1st year B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S. through the educational year 2021–22 is eligible to appear for the aptitude test.

The student should produce a research certificate of 1st year  B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S as soon as they’re chosen as a provisional KVPY fellow. Moreover, the fellowship of the scholars chosen underneath this stream can be activated provided that they are a part of an undergraduate program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S) within the educational year 2021-22 and secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in 1st year of B.Sc./B.S./B.Math./B.Stat./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S.

Application

There are three steps to finish your application successfully.

  • Step  1. Registration
  • Step 2. Filling personal and educational details, choosing test centers, and uploading photographs, signatures,s and different certificates, as relevant.
  • Step 3. Payment of application charges.  Please be aware that you have to pay the application price solely on the  KVPY application portal. This could be done by using a Credit Card, ATM-Debit Card, UPI, or Net Banking. No different means of payment can be accepted.  Once the cost is successful and the application is submitted, no refund of application price can be done
  • The application charges for KVPY-2021 are as follows: For General/OBC Category: Rs. 1250,  For SC/ST/PWD: Rs. 625 (Bank Charges additional)

Important dates

  • Start of online submission of Application: 12th July 2021
  • Last date for closing of Online Application: 25th August 2021
  • KVPY Aptitude Test: 7th November 2021

Stipend

The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, affords attractive fellowships (Rs. 5,000/- to Rs.7,000/- p.m.) and contingency grants (equal to 4 months fellowship each year) to students studying in a 1st-year program in a basic science course such as B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. Selection to the program considers the academic excellence to take up a research career in Basic Sciences.
