About

With support from Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) is organizing a free webinar on “Just Transition – Planning For A Post Coal Future” on 24th June 2021, 11 am – 1:30 pm (IST).

The Energy and Resources Institute is a research institute in New Delhi that focuses on the fields of energy, atmosphere, and sustainable development. Established in 1974, it was previously generally known as the Tata Energy Research Institute.

Webinar Highlights
  • The event will embody a panel discussion and the launch of two working papers prepared by TERI on Just Transition.
  • This webinar will particularly discuss and study the opportunities and challenges related to Just Transition in India.
  • The notion of Just Transition is rooted within the ideas of ‘environmental justice’ whereby the transition from a fossil fuel-based infrastructure to a sustainable infrastructure must be simple and equitable for everybody who is part of it.
  • Their seamless transition from an abilities aspect, moving from a fossil fuel sector to a sustainable growth sector, will in some ways outline the future of India’s energy movement. Thus, there’s a need for the creation of a mechanism that may assist in the identification of all of the potential conflicts and a pathway that may result in an appropriate final result for all the key stakeholders.
