The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Tiruchirappalli invites applications from meritorious and eligible candidates for admission into its Ph.D. Program for the upcoming educational session.
NIT-T provides full-time and part-time Ph.D. Program in all branches of Engineering (Chemical, Civil, CSE, Energy and Environment, EEE, ECE, Instrumentation and Control, Mechanical, Metallurgical and Materials, and Production), Architecture, Computer Applications, Management Studies, Science (Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics), and Humanities (English/ Economics).

- For Ph.D. in Engineering: Bachelor’s and Master’s/ M.S. (by Research) degree in Engineering/ Technology within the acceptable department of research with a certified GATE rating obtained in the last 5 years from the time limit of the application form and with a minimal of 60% (or above) aggregate marks (CGPA ≥ 6.5/10) in UG and PG for admission under OC/ OC-EWS/ OBC-NCL class and 55% aggregate (or above) marks or equal CGPA of ≥ 6.0 for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates.
- For Ph.D. in Sciences: Master’s degree in Mathematics/ Chemistry/ Physics with a certified GATE rating (obtained within the final 5 years from the time limit of the application form)/NET/ UGC/ CSIR/ NBHM rating and a minimal of 60% aggregate marks or equal CGPA of 6.5/10 in B.Sc and M.Sc for admission under OC/ OC-EWS/ OBC-NCL class or a minimal of 55% mixture marks or equal CGPA of 6.0/10 in B.Sc and M.Sc for admission under SC/ST/PwD class.
- For Ph.D. in Humanities & Social Sciences: Master’s degree within the related self-discipline of Humanities/Social Science/ Economics/ Business Administration/ Commerce/ Statistics with a certified UGC/ NET/ CAT/ AIMA/ XAT/ MAT and a minimal of 60% aggregate marks or equal CGPA of 6.5/10 in UG and PG for admission beneath OC/ OC-EWS/ OBC-NCL class or a minimal of 55% aggregate marks or equal CGPA of 6.0/10 in UG and PG for admission beneath SC/ ST/ PwD class.

Each application should accompany an application charge is Rs. 1000/- per department for OC/ OBC(NCL)/ EWS candidates and Rs. 750/- per department for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates. Applications to more than one department shall be considered solely upon the fee of the requisite charges for every department.
