About the Organiser
Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwavidyalaya established on October 2, 1964, is a forerunner college situated in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The college is awarded Sardar Ballabh Bhai Patel Outstanding University Award for the year 2018 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi.
About the Program
India is producing about 1.81 lakh tonnes of mushroom every year compared to 330 lakh tonnes in China. With more than 1.37 billion inhabitants, the provision may be very meager because the manufacturing may be very low. India is having more than 700 million tonnes of agri-residue which isn’t utilized commercially on a massive scale.
If about 1-2% of the agri-residue is utilized India can produce about 15-20 lakh tonnes of protein-rich mushroom which can assist to fight malnutrition together with livelihood alternatives within the rural areas Further, the land and water requirement for the cultivation of mushroom is low in comparison with different discipline and horticultural crops. Overall mushroom cultivation calls for superb entrepreneurship and management with low value.
Target Beneficiaries
- Junior and center degree managers from the horticulture trade engaged in manufacturing, advertising, high-quality assurance or enterprise improvement, and so forth.
- Teaching, analysis & extension employees of universities or institutes prepared to improve their data and ability in mushroom manufacturing & administration.
- Students & Entrepreneurs prepared to start out their mushroom manufacturing & administration enterprise.
- Rural youth for self-employment.
